San Francisco, CA (AHN) - Adobe Systems announced Monday it will release an early version of its AIR platform for Linux. The software, which allows developers to create Web-based applications, is already available for Windows and Apple users. The early test, or "alpha" version of AIR includes some bugs and a few missing features. For instance, the Linux version of AIR won't support the open-source GNU Java, only Sun's. The Adobe Linux application was released without the ability to print documents or provide digital rights management. As part of the announcement, Adobe will join Google, HP, IBM and other technology companies as a member of the Linux Foundation. However, that membership does not include releasing AIR's source-code.
