Tokyo, Japan (AHN) - Japan's biggest computer-services company, Fujitsu Ltd., on Monday projected to make twice as much profit this fiscal year owing to earnings on software and electronic devices. At a briefing in Tokyo, Chief Financial Officer Masamichi Ogura added that Fujitsu plans to pay an annual dividend of 10 yen per share for fiscal 2008, an eight-year high, backed by a recovery in earnings. For the year ending in March 2009, the Tokyo-based firm expects a group net profit of 100 billion yen ($96.7 million), up 107.9 percent from the previous year. Operating profit is projected to rise 7.3 percent to 220 billion yen, while recurring profit is seen growing 13.6 percent to 185 billion yen, on sales of 5.35 trillion yen, up 0.4 percent, according to Bloomberg. Ogura said the company expects software services to boost profit at the technology solutions unit by 17 percent to 210 billion yen, while earnings on electronic devices are projected to climb 9.5 percent to 20 billion yen. Fujitsu further projected production of hard disks to rise 27 percent to 47 million units this fiscal year, from 37.1 million units last year. Ogura added the company will reduce capital spending in the semiconductor unit 47 percent to 50 billion yen.
