Cupertino, CA (AHN) - Switzerland carrier SwissCom told subscribers it will offer Apple's iPhone later this year. Swisscom becomes the latest in a string of iPhone announcements as Apple prepares to launch a second generation of its popular combination smartphone and media player. Swisscom, with 5.1 million cell phone subscribers, announced the iPhone deal on its Web site. On Tuesday, Swiss newspaper Le Matin reported the phone would support faster 3G networking, video conferencing, television and GPS navigation. Earlier this week, Apple confirmed supplies of the current iPhone were unavailable online in the U.S. and U.K. In the run-up to the June Apple developer's conference, carriers in several countries have announced upcoming sale of iPhones, without providing many details. Apple CEO Steve Jobs could announce the new iPhone when he speaks during the developer's conference.
