San Francisco, CA (AHN) - Speculations of an upcoming addition to video game company Sega's Sonic games rose as screenshots were spotted online of the rumored upcoming game, Sonic Unleashed. The leaked screenshots point to the resurrection of the Sega-based character after a disappointing performance of its last multiplatform installment. While official word on the release of the game is yet to be heard, fans have begun to anticipate the coming of the game. An article on Xbox360fanboy.com quoted a released statement from Sega Europe, which read: "Sonic the Hedgehog returns for a full-blown, action-packed adventure through the desolate and unpredictable World of Mubuz, a world dictated by an evil Dragon Lord, Immarius. Upon entering Muboz, Sonic fights an evil power which turns all the inhabitants into dangerous beasts." The statement also revealed that players would be able to take on the characters Sonic, or either of the series' two other characters, Knuckles and Tails. Sonic's character also allegedly turns into Wolf Sonic, with increased energy during parts of the 12-level gameplay. According to Nintendic.com, a version for the Nintendo Wii is still to be determined. Compatibilities for the Microsoft Xbox 360, as well as the Sony PlayStation 3, however, are more likely.
